Uploading and files

Uploading photos, the preview queue, downscaling to 2560 px, full resolution, duplicates, storage and deleting.

How to upload photos to a gallery You upload photos on the gallery page: choose or drag your files, and the upload starts by itself. Your browser sends them in batches, so a big session goes through too. Which photo formats and file sizes are supported Picvelo accepts JPG, PNG and WEBP, up to 50 MB per file. How many photos you can upload depends on the storage in your plan, not on the number of galleries. What happens to a photo after you upload it A photo isn't ready the moment it's sent. First you see it, then a watermarked preview is made, and finally the file goes to cloud storage. Why photos are resized to 2560 px A selection gallery gets a working copy, not the original. The long side goes down to 2560 px, because this gallery is for viewing and picking, not for archiving. When Picvelo keeps full resolution Files aren't resized in a delivery gallery. In a selection gallery we keep a working copy up to 2560 px. Uploading the same photos twice You won't create duplicates this way. Picvelo recognizes a file that's already in the gallery, skips it and counts it as uploaded, because from your point of view it's already there. Interrupted uploads and retries A weak connection doesn't mean losing photos. The uploader retries failed batches on its own, and if that fails too, just upload the same folder again. How much storage your photos use Storage counts the file that reaches our server, not the one on your drive. Because your browser resizes photos first, a session usually takes several times less space than the originals would. How to delete photos from a gallery You delete photos one at a time with the trash icon on a tile, or all at once from the "More" menu above the grid. Neither action can be undone. Uploading photos from your phone The panel works on a phone, and so does uploading, but an iPhone saves photos by default in a format we don't accept. It's worth changing that once before you try. Enhanced preview protection A switch in the gallery settings cuts previews down to 900 px and compresses them hard. Your client can still pick photos comfortably on screen, but a file like that is useless for printing.
