Frequently asked questions

How many DPI do you need for printing?

300 DPI is the standard for gallery quality, 150 DPI is enough for good quality, and for large formats viewed from a distance (posters, banners) you can go lower.

What print size do I get from 24 MP (6000 × 4000 px)?

About 50 × 34 cm at 300 DPI, and about 100 × 68 cm at 150 DPI. Enter your own dimensions and the calculator works it out exactly.

How do you convert pixels to centimetres?

Divide the pixel count by the DPI to get inches, then multiply by 2.54. The calculator does this for you.

Is 72 DPI enough for printing?

No. 72 DPI is a screen resolution. For printing, aim for 150 to 300 DPI depending on the format and viewing distance.

How many megapixels do you need for A4 or A3?

A4 at 300 DPI needs about 9.5 MP, and A3 about 19 MP. The calculator shows what format you can print from your photo.
